Joao Carlos Lopes

Bishop Carlos received a bachelor's degree from the Faculdade de Teologia da Igreja Metodista in São Paulo, Brazil. He also received both a Master of Divinity and a Doctorate of Missiology from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky.
After 18 years as an ordained elder in the sixth region of the Brazilian Methodist Church, Bishop Carlos was elected bishop and appointed to the same sixth Conference in 1997. In 2006 he was elected president of the College of Bishops of the Brazilian Methodist Church.
Bishop Carlos has served as a Mission Society board member since 2006.
