Paraguay

The Methodist Church of Paraguay started when a group of Brazilians sensed God’s call to reach out to their Paraguayan neighbors. Through prayer and faithful commitment, the Paraguayan Methodist Church has grown to more than twenty-eight congregations. This movement of the Holy Spirit continues, and today’s Paraguayan church leadership has a vision to reach out to Paraguayans through community development projects and evangelism campaigns. Teams can stay either in dormitories at the Central Methodist Church in Asuncion or in rural settings as they reach out to Guarani-speaking Paraguayans.

Paraguay Projects

Children & Evangelism Programs
Project Location: Asuncion and Ciudad del Este, Paraguay
Estimated Costs: Approximately $350 per person plus airfare and any specific project monies.
Date Availability: Teams are welcomes year-round. Ten-to-fifteen day trips are recommended since three days are spent traveling. Trips less than ten days are not advised. Summer months (U.S. winter months) are extremely hot and humid.
Project Description: Programs such as puppet ministry, Bible clubs, drama and more can be done in conjunction with the Mobile Medical Clinic. Teaching English or basic computer skills at the Nueva Horizon School are opportunities also available. Teams should bring their own program materials.

Construction for Agrimissions Center in the Intertior
Project Location: Quinta Linea in the interior, Paraguay
Estimated Costs: Approx $400 per person plus airfare and any specific project monies.
Date Availability: Teams are welcome from May through October. Ten-to-fifteen day trips are recommended since three days are spent traveling. Trips less than ten days are not advised.
Project Description: Complete the Agrimissions building in the interior of Paraguay. This building is designed to teach new methods in farming and animal care, have classrooms for agriculturally related lectures and house students or teams overnight. The roof and walls are completed but everything from floors, windows, doors and plumbing are needed.

Evangelism Teams
Project Location: Asuncion and Ciudad del Este, Paraguay
Estimated Costs: Approximately $350 per person plus airfare and any specific project monies.

Project Description: Evangelistic outreach teams are welcome to engage in such ministries as:

• Visit door-to-door
• Work with Paraguayan pastors
• Conduct special service in evenings
• * Special Note: Spanish language knowledge or team interpreter from U.S. required.

Methodist Campground Construction
Project Location: Asuncion, Paraguay

Project Description: This campground located in the countryside beyond Asuncion, is a partner ministry with of Redwood Christian Park in San Jose, California. Construction needs include the improvement of dorm facilities and the creation of a ropes course.

Mobile Medical Clinic
Project Location: Asuncion, Paraguay
Estimated Costs: Approx $350 per person plus airfare and any specific project monies.
Date Availability: Mobile Medical Clinic teams are welcome all months except December and January. Ten-to-fifteen day trips are recommended since three days are spent traveling. Trips less than ten days are not advised. Summer months (U.S. winter months) are extremely hot and humid.
Project Description: This traveling medical clinic is equipped with an eye-glass fitting room, dental room, pharmacy/dispensary unit and examination room. It travels to local churches several times a month. Teams should bring donated medical supplies and medicines. Medical teams should consist of:

• One medical doctor and/or one dentist
• A translator familiar with medical Spanish
• Medical support personnel (PA, RN, NP, etc.)
• Lay prayer counselors

Teaching Programs for Women

• Trade skills (sewing, craft-making, computers)
• Leadership (prayer ministry, counseling)
